CPD Opportunities in 2013

Now is the time to plan your Continuous Professional Development for this new year.  There are many excellent opportunities available, both free and payable.  Whichever option you choose, rest assured you won't regret developing your skills and extending your knowledge of teaching.

Electronic Village Online
Registration for EVO 2013 begins today, January 7th.  Sessions begin on January 14th. They last for 5 weeks. You can find out more information from the EVO Call for Participation main page here.

There is a great variety of subjects to choose from, so there is bound to be one that will interest you.  I have attended an EVO session every year since 2009 and each one has been truly excellent.

  1. 2009 Digital Portfolios
  2. 2010  Images for Education
  3. 2011 Digital Storytelling
  4. 2012 Podcasting.
The sessions this year include Becoming a Webhead 2013, Multiliteracies Mooc and many others!
The Neuroscience in Education - Braining up your English Lessons and the session on Mentoring look very interesting, and I am tempted to choose one of them....

The Consultants-E
Professional Development courses with The Consultants-E begin on January 10th.

Below you can view an informative Youtube video clip on Tips for Online Trainers, created by the Consultants-E.

SEETA
In the past few years I have attended many free CPD courses with SEETA, the South Eastern Europe Teachers Associations. Sessions I have enjoyed immensly have been the following:

  1.  mLearning
  2. Creative Reading
  3. Digital Storytelling
  4. Humanism & Modern Technology
  5. Digital Literacies.
Have a look to see what they have to offer in 2013 here.

Lake School of English
The Lake School of English offers many professional development courses in Oxford throughout the year.  I teach on Teacher Refresher courses whenever I am back in England. I can personally say that the courses are of a very high level and sessions are given by highly trained and experienced tutors.  You can view the online brochure with more information on professional development courses here.
You can connect with the Lake School via Twitter.

American Tesol Free Friday Webinars
For free webinars on a great variety of topics, you really should attend Shelly Terrell's Free Friday Webinars with American Tesol.  Link to upcoming webinars in 2013 and past resources here.
